The
government thru the Technology Livelihood and Resource
Center (TLRC) in its campaign to minimize if not totally
eliminate fruit importation offers short course on the
latest technology of growing imported and nontraditional
fruit trees on backyard and commercial scale.
The
seminar will be held at TLRC Office at Gil. J. Puyat
Extension, Makati, M.M. on June 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and
at the UP BLISS Economic Garden on June 5 for actual
demonstration and field trip.
Bernardo O. Dizon, a
noted pomologist-viticulturist who recognized here and
abroad for his technological breakthroughs will be the
resource speaker.
Durian, lychees, rambutan, mangosteen, oranges,
lanzones and other nontraditional and local fruits grown in
double or multiple rootstocks become prolific, double its
growth and production, reduce fruit bearing time to almost
one half, resistant to strong wind and drought and can be
planted to any type of soil and climate.
